“I need some boundaries” is a series of illustrations that reflect my experience with body and space during the pandemic. These items are also important in graffiti culture. The piece "Unwanted substance" plastic glove, bottle of sanitizer, and facemask denote the need to defend oneself from external contamination; they are a symbol for security and shelter. They can be seen as a physical barrier to the outside world, a safeguard from contamination and illnesses. In "Key to the city", I rendered a bolt cutter, whose true purpose is to cut through locks, fences, and chains. But now functions as a physical metaphor for the intrusion of personal space, a sign for the disruption of the status quo, a metaphorical dismantling of obstacles and boundaries. Finally the work "The Witches hat" which is an orange cone, whose role in the world is to form new paths in streets and sidewalks to avoid blockages and indicate regions that should not be occupied, alludes to the changes in body and space brought about by the pandemic. It works to form a new reality, a novel way of existing in the world. It can be a sign of adaptability and fortitude, and an invitation to investigate new potentials and methods of navigating our environment.
